Valentine’s Day is almost upon us. There is class party planning, making sure the kids get valentine’s to hand out, dealing with your 5th graders heartbreak that she doesn’t have a Valentine. And so many other little struggles that come with the days of mom life. It’s easy to forget that you can make Valentine’s a purposeful holiday celebration, but sharing what you truly care about with your kids. Love. Share love with your children through a special origami valentine note.
(All these notes use basic 8.5″ x 11″ paper. If you would rather make something useful, you could make the heart corner bookmark)
I have a daughter that enjoys receiving notes from people. She leaves notes for family members, she appreciates a kind note from anyone. So this Valentine’s I wanted to leave her several notes. I could heart attack her door, but in truth I have already done that. So I came up with these note folds to leave her notes here and there leading up to Valentine’s Day.
I have put notes on pillows, notes on doors, notes in bags. It’s such a small thing, but the small things truly mean so much. And reminding her that I love her is a valuable thing. Notes are the perfect way for me to make deposits into her emotional bank account (to use the words of Stephen Covey). Because eventually there comes a time I have to make a withdrawal reinforcing rules or with tough love parenting.
I used three note styles, because they make the notes feel different when I leave them. Also I wanted a note to be heart shaped for Valentine’s. What do you do for your kids for Valentine’s?
