It all started with a custom made blanket from Oh Sew Sweet. It looked like legos and was pirate themed. I had it embroidered with my son’s name and July 28, the day of his wonderful birth.
So, let me start by saying a Pirate Themed 9th Birthday Party was totally genius and amazing. From the birthday card invitations made by the lovely Kathy Hopkins, to the cake pops and lollipops made by Stephanie Thomason. (Yes, I can totally get you their information. I will post links soon.)
I certainly had my doubts about inviting 32 fourth graders over to the house. (Who wouldn’t?) I waited until Tuesday to send the invitations because I didn’t want to allow so much time between the invite and the day of the event. That would result in all 32 children showing up and NO THANK YOU. I love children but 32 at my home would get a little chaotic and there are probably fire laws that don’t allow that many fourth graders in one home at one time.
We dressed Colt up and got ready to go. Colt is an 11 year old Alaskan Malamute with Cushings. If his hair grows back, it will grow back differently and it has. The bouncy house which was Pirates of the Caribbean as is only fitting with a Pirate Celebration was set up and ready to go. Case and point of 32 fourth graders at my house. The boys were wanting to turn the bouncy house fan on and off while INSIDE it. Luckily I only had to deal with 5 fourth graders and a couple family friends and their little ones. It was perfect.
All in all it was a great day and we had an awesome time. My son deemed me the FaVe Mom and life is good when your little one loves you. Makes all the trying times totally worth it.
We did a treasure hunt complete with scrolls and the Birthday Boy found the treasure!!! We used a Pampers Wipe Container that Stephanie had painted brown and put stickers on so it blended perfectly with the dirt. Marine wives and daughters rock. Just saying.
I can’t believe my baby is 9 years old. I’m so blessed to have him for a son and I thank God every day for him. Happy Birthday Chunka Monka. Momma loves you!

I <3 Colt!!
Looks like it was a great party! I hope you were able to get some rest after such a crazy day :)
Lol, rest! What’s that? Looking forward to seeing you in a week! Colt is too I’m sure.
